Answers to common questions

We’ve compiled a list of answers to common questions.

What time is Check-in and Check- out? How do we check/out in?

Check in is 3:00 PM, and check out is 11:00 AM, unless prior arrangements have been made.  When you check in, you have the option to come by our office or go straight to your cabin or cottage. Your cabin or cottage will be unlocked and you will find your keys inside. When you check out you can just leave your keys inside your cabin. We will email you a receipt for your stay.

What is your cancellation policy?

Guests can cancel free of charge until 14 days before arrival. Guests will be charged the first night if they cancel in the 14 days before arrival.

If the guest desires to change their dates after confirmation of booking, all changes shall be within the sole discretion of the Lazy Z.  A change fee may be applied depending on the situation.

Can I bring my dog along?

Dogs are allowed in the cottages #12-#17. Dogs must be kept on a leash the entire time they are on the grounds. Dogs are NOT allowed in the swimming pool or hot tub. Dogs are NOT permitted in cabins 1A, 1B, 2,3,4,5, 7 or Zelco. Prior to bringing your dog, you must check with the office and pay the required nightly dog fee. There will be a $250 fine for undeclared dogs or dogs in prohibited cabins. You will also be financially responsible for any damaged caused to the cabin or the grounds by your dog.

Is smoking allowed in the cabins?

Smoking is prohibited in all of the cottages and cabins. There will be a $250 fine if the cabin smells of smoke, maraijuana, or vaping when you check out.

Am I responsible for cleaning my cabin?

No, we provide housekeeping service. You will find your cabin clean when you arrive and our housekeeper will clean it for you when you depart.

Directions? Can I use GPS?

GPS can be unreliable in mountainous regions.  You can find detailed directions from major cities on our Map page.

Is a 4-wheel drive vehicle necessary?

Durring the winter months you should ALWAYS be prepared with chains or 4WD. There is always a chance we will have snow and we cannot guarentee that the roads to the resort or on the resort will be plowed. Again chains or 4-wheel drive may be required during the winter months. If you don’t have them, you may be turned away at the chain control check points. Contact our office staff during business hours for more information.

We do not have the ability to install your chains or pull your vehicle out should you get stuck in the snow. Roadside service is recommended when coming to the mountains.

Is there wildlife in the area?

Yes.  Because you are coming to the mountains, there is a good chance you will encounter and experience some sort of wildlife in the area.  The most popular wildlife we experience are as follows:  deer, raccoons, skunks, squirrels, turkey and snakes. All of our cabins are professionally treated on a regular schedule for pests, but we cannot guarantee that you will not encounter some type of bug or insect on occasion in or around the cabin.

How far is the Lazy Z from Yosemite National Park?

Yosemite is about 1.5 hours from the Lazy Z Resort via CA-120 E.

Can we use the clubhouse?

Yes! The clubhouse and all it’s amenities is for all of our guests to enjoy! It is also available for private parties.

Where is the ice machine located?

You will find the ice machine located downstairs outside on the left side of the clubhouse next to the sliding glass doors.

What if there is a power outage?

There is always a possibility of a power outage. In the summer PG&E may disconnect power to proactivly prevent wild fires. They usually inform us 24-48 hours ahead of time and we will pass that information onto our guests. In the winter there is a possibility of loosing power because of storms. And all year, there is always a possibility of a power outage for unforseen circumstances. We DO NOT have back up generators. We suggest that you are always prepared with extra blankets, food that doesn’t need to be warmed up and a flashlight with extra batteries. These are always good precautions to take while traveling in the mountains no matter what time of year it is.

Is there Wi-Fi in the cabins?

Cabins 1A, 1B, 2 and 3 have WIFI. There is also WIFI in the clubhouse/pool area. However, there may be times when service is interrupted or the modem/router needs to be reset.  If your cell phone has a personal hotspot, that will guarantee you internet service should internet not be accessible otherwise. We are currently working on upgrading our WIFI system.

What items can I expect to find in the home?

We provide you with a  few items to get you started, including: paper towels, toilet paper, dish washing liquid, and coffee. If there is something specific that you require, please make sure you bring it with you.

Does the home come with linens and towels, or do I need to bring my own?

The home will be equipped with all the basic necessities. All the beds will be made with fresh linens and bath towels will be provided.

Is there a fully equipped kitchen in the cabins?

Yes.  Each cabin has a fully equipped kitchen including other items:  a refrigerator, stove top, microwave, coffee maker, blender, pots/pans, full service dinnerware, glassware, silverware, cooking utensils

Cottages have a kitchenette equipped with a mini refrigerator, microwave, toaster and coffee maker.
